Her broadcast journalism began at an early age, her grandmother always motivated her and taught her about the qualities of diligence, dedication, and perseverance. She watched her grandmother become the State Representative of District 65, President of the Progressive League of College Station. Her foundation was built at Mt. Nebo AME Church. It gave her a chance to begin public speaking. She mastered speaking in front of an audience and that gave her the tools she uses today in her life.

While there, she hosted “The Morning Juice.” Finney showed her calling after the Charleston shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina. Now she tells stories that impact the lives of everyday people. Finney joined KTBS First News in Shreveport where she did general reporting. She covered the floods of August 2016 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on her third day of work.
Growing up, she experienced the flood impacts and saw how it completely washed away neighborhoods and businesses. She says that it gave her a chance to demonstrate what was happening and motivate others to help. Often, she could connect with the local community and its leaders as the 9 a.m. and Midday news anchors. In her show’s interviews, she invites U.S. congressmen, state leaders, as well as city councilmen to share how new laws and policies would affect the public.
