She also spent some time anchoring for two hours in the morning. She then publicized that she would leave the station on May 19, 2012, for ABC News. Robach publicized on November 11, 2013, that she was diagnosed with breast cancer following her receiving a mammogram on live television on October 1, 2013. After the diagnostics, she decided to take some time off to focus on her health and undergo a bilateral mastectomy.
During the surgery, doctors found a second malignant tumor in her other breast and that cancer had spread to her lymph nodes which are classified as Stage IIB. She had to undergo eight rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and reconstructive surgery. She also states that it was not easy for her but she had some hope that all would be just fine.
