Busick attended Northeast Middle School before transferring to Northeast Guilford High School. By watching a local news bulletin during her school years, she developed a strong interest in journalism and writing. Busick graduated from Northeast Guilford High School ahead of the rest of her class in December 2004 and enrolled at North Carolina State University the following year. She earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship in December 2008.
Amanda Busick Career
Busick serves at FOX Sports as the multi-media reporter for the NHRA on FOX and pit reporter for the FIA Formula E Championship on FOX. Since the Great Recession reduced opportunities for employment as an entrepreneur specializing in online education for high school students, Busick began her career as an intern at her county’s local news television station. She moved from North Carolina to New York City in 2010 with the goal of working as a sports reporter. During the day, she worked as an intern, and at night, she worked as a waitress at a restaurant.
In 2012, she persuaded Campus Insiders, a Chicago-based digital sports college company, to hire her as a production assistant. Busick took a second job at a restaurant to help her become financially stable. She made her on-camera debut in late 2014 as a sideline reporter for Time Warner Cable Sports, covering the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. Busick soon signed a contract with an agent to advance her career. She went on to work for ESPN as a stage manager. Formalized paraphrase Busick found work as a meat salesperson and a bartender in Boston in early 2015, following a major financial crisis that forced her family to live together.
In July 2015, she received a phone call from National Hot Rod Association vice-president and chief content officer Ken Adelson about a position in the series. Busick had no prior knowledge of drag racing and spent the next three months researching the sport and taking lessons at Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School to become more familiar with it. She attended her first NHRA National event in Dallas in October 2015, where she interviewed multiple drivers and wrote two reports for the series. Following the weekend, she was invited to cover the NHRA’s red carpet ceremony prior to its official banquet in Los Angeles.
On November 16, 2015, Busick was offered a position as a multimedia reporter for the NHRA. She began working for the series’ official broadcaster, Fox Sports, at the start of the 2016 season. Busick covers NHRA events and co-hosts the Fox Sports 1 pre-race show Sunday Nitro Live from February to November each year. She reports on Walk 1,000 Feet, a recurring broadcast feature about the personalities of drivers. Busick served as pit lane reporter for the all-electric Formula E racing series race, the 2018 New York City ePrix doubleheader, in 2018, and will do so again in 2019.
