She moved to the Midwest after graduation to work as a general assignment reporter in Rapid City, South Dakota. Alexa lived in the Black Hills for nearly two years, including two harsh winters. She traveled southeast to Wilmington, North Carolina, soon after leaving Rapid City.
Her time in Wilmington included interviews with then-presidential candidate Ben Carson, coverage of summer shark attacks that drew national attention, and coverage of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington men’s basketball team’s NCAA tournament run.
Alexa continues to play volleyball whenever she is able. Block prefers to be indoors, but she isn’t afraid of a little sand. She also enjoys shopping, Netflix binge-watching, and spending time with her family. She studied journalism and film and played volleyball at Pacific University, Oregon.
