Whittler anchors the weekend evening newscasts at 6, 10, and 11 for Fox 5 Atlanta. Previously, she anchored and reported in Richmond, Virginia. There, she covered breaking news events ranging from the Virginia Beach mass shooting to near-record-breaking snowfall, and historic, deadly tornadoes caused by Hurricane Florence.
Alex began her journalism career in Chicago, working in all but one television newsroom in the city including WBBM, WLS, WMAQ, and WGN. She had term interning for the TODAY Show and Cosmopolitan magazine. She later went on to write freelance articles.
She was the Medill School of Journalism Class of 2017 Graduation Speaker in June 2017. She received the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association MIP Scholarship in June 2015. In February 2015, she was honored as a Pi Sigma Alpha member at Loyola University Chicago, Pi Sigma Alpha is the Political Science Honors Society. She received the Best Broadcast News Feature award at Loyola University Chicago School of Communication in January 2015.
