Alex Cheney is an American general assignment reporter and weathercaster for ABC7 Eyewitness News since joining the station in August 2019.
He was born in Orange County and went to high school in Irvine. Cheney attended the Manship School at Louisiana State University where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a specification in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in business. He worked for the university’s student-run news station Tiger TV for three years.
He began his career at KYMA in Yuma, Arizona, as a weekday news anchor, reporter, producer, and fill-in weather/sports anchor. Prior to joining ABC7, Cheney spent two years at KESQ in Palm Springs, California, where he worked as a weekend evening weathercaster, sports anchor/reporter and news reporter.
Cheney is thrilled to return to the Disney family as he interned at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut while in college.
He is happy to be back in Southern California and doing what he loves! When he is not working, he enjoys basketball, playing guitar and hiking.
