German serves at WHAS as a meteorologist. He was one of those kids who were terrified of thunderstorms yet adored snow. Tornadoes slammed through German’s Kansas City neighborhood in May 2003. Despite the fact that his home was spared, the incident reinforced his phobia of storms. He gradually realized that these individuals on TV seemed to know what was going to happen in the future, so he began watching the news to see what the weather would be like. That piqued his interest in broadcasting as well.
German is a proud alumnus of the University of Kansas “Rock Chalk”. During his time at the university, he assisted in building a weather department for KUJH-TV, a student-run television station. He also got the chance to do and fill in forecasts for a hyper-local cable station, which served Lawrence and the nearby minor towns. He graduated with a Minor in Journalism and a B.S. in Atmospheric Science from the university, and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska.
There at Lincoln, he worked for around two and a half years for an ABC-affiliated television station, KLKN, holding the positions of reporter, as well as a meteorologist. During his stay in Nebraska, he experienced some severe weather, such as the devastating flooding of March 2019 and one of the snowiest winters on record which he covered firsthand.
During his leisure, he likes reading bookstores that are run by locals since they are his favorite, and he’s always looking for new books to read. You can also find him working on his body fitness at the gym, or exploring Kentucky during his free time. Moreover, German is a volunteer at the Capital Humane Society in Lincoln.
