Ahmad Bajjey Career

Bajjey serves at NBC25 as a meteorologist forecasting the weather on weekday evenings at 5, 6, and 11 p.m. Also, you can catch him on FOX66 at 10 p.m. He serves as the Chief Meteorologist of Mid-Michigan NOW. Bajjey’s career in weather began at a young age, when a major storm system swept through southeast Michigan, wreaking havoc on the Detroit area. The storm came with lightning that struck so close to his house that it shattered a tree on his street.

He fell in love with the weather on that day. Also, watching meteorologists like Paul Gross and Chuck Gaidica on WDIV-TV, an NBC-affiliated television station, located in Detroit made him realize that a career in broadcasting was best for him. Throughout his career in Mid-Michigan, he was among the first reporters to cover significant floods in Sanford and Midland, as well as tornado damage paths in Shiawassee, Genesee, and Saginaw counties. Also, he tracked tornadoes through Shiawassee County.

According to Bajjey, the best place to work as a meteorologist is in Michigan since there are 4 different seasons. With that, there are possibilities of covering everything from blizzards to tornadoes. The Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press have both recognized him with honors for Best Weathercast. Bajjey is a Central Michigan University alumni who is passionate about his alma mater. He was named one of the 2019 10 Within 10, a group of ten outstanding graduates from the previous decade.

Bajjey’s affiliation is both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and has received several honors for leadership. It also supports the National Marrow Donor Program in the fight against leukemia. In addition, he is a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society, Special Olympics Michigan, and keeping the arts in public schools there in Michigan.

During his leisure, he loves playing paintball, as well as playing saxophone and supporting the Central Michigan Chippewas’s football team. Also, he also enjoys going to schools to speak to students about his passion for weather. He always tells the students to follow their aspirations and never give up, no matter what career they choose to pursue. In addition, Bajjey likes to explore Clio, Michigan, where he currently resides.
