Benigni attended Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1991. Currently, he is the sports director, reporter, anchor, and fill-in news anchor at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York. He joined the WGRZ-TV team on the day the Sabres introduced Lindy Ruff as head coach. During his tenure at WGRZ-TV, he has worked his way up through the ranks from joining the station as the weekend anchor and currently anchors the evening sportscasts from Sunday to Thursday. In addition to that, he hosts Sports Talk Sunday and anchors weekday evening news when the main talent is off.
Prior to joining the WGRZ-TV sports team, he served at WSTM-TV, the NBC affiliate in Syracuse. During his time working at WSTM-TV, he served the station as a sports anchor and reporter. In the course of his working time in Central New York, he worked for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League as a radio color commentator. Throughout his broadcasting career job, he has covered everything from the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999 to the Sabres numerous playoff runs and trips to the Bills and the NFL.
