Schwarz is a meteorologist as well as a reporter at ABC7 who whenever is not covering the weather, reports on environmental and weather-related stories. Before joining ABC 7, he was the primary meteorologist at WNYW-TV in New York, N.Y., where he reported the weather for their 10 p.m. newscast. Prior to that, Schwarz served as the weekend meteorologist at KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in the Twin Cities.
He started his on-air career in his hometown of Flint, Michigan, where he worked as the weekend meteorologist for WJRT-TV, the local ABC affiliate. While there, Schwarz also owned and operated a private weather forecasting service with several clients throughout the Midwest.
He participates in numerous volunteer activities and is a board member of the Les Turner ALS Foundation. This charitable group raises money to help those afflicted with ALS and also contributes to the research being conducted at Northwestern University. All of the money raised stays in the Chicago area. Every year he emcees the ALS Walk for Life which is held in late September.
