Before working at KCAL-TV, he worked at KTYBC-TV where he served as an anchor and reporter from 1994 to 1996 in Austin, Texas. From 1993 to 1994, he worked as the weekend anchor and reporter at KCEN-TV based in Waco, Texas. He had previously spent about 2 years working at KMID-TV based in Odessa/Midland, Texas where he served as a reporter and anchor from 1991 to 1993.
