Barrett is an anchor who is on “Today in New York,” NBC 4 New York’s 4:30 a.m. – 7 a.m. newscasts. Originally from Illinois, before beginning her career, she attended Clemson University and the University of Florida. She worked for television stations from Phoenix to New York City during her more than 20 years in the industry.
Barrett comes from WTXF in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to NBC 4 New York, where she also anchored “Good Day Philadelphia” and “5 p.m., 6 p.m.,” Uh, and 11 p.m. Newscasts for weekdays. In Salt Lake City, Utah, Barrett co-anchored “Eyewitness News Today” for KSL and was a reporter as well as a fill-in anchor at KNXV in Phoenix, Arizona.
As an anchor/reporter for KFDX in Wichita Falls, Barrett started her career in Texas. A two-week assignment to Balad Air Force Base in Iraq includes Barrett’s career highlights, where she created and recorded a 30-part series on the deployment of local airmen. Her husband John, who is an F16 pilot with the New Jersey Air National Guard, was one of those airmen, and it remains her favorite story. Barrett is also a proud supporter of our uniformed men and women.
Barrett has won awards from the Association of Utah Broadcasters and the Professional Journalist Society. She also contributed her time as well as strength to her community and worked with the Pennsylvania S.P.C.A., Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Whispers of Hope, and volunteered with an organization that rehabilitated neglected horses used for horseback riding therapy for children with developmental challenges because of her passion for children as well as horses.
