He also works as an on-air political analyst for NBC News’ NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and Today.
Todd also serves as NBC News’ political director and as an on-air political analyst for the Nightly News with Lester Holt and TODAY. Todd is in charge of all aspects of the network’s political coverage, in addition to his on-air analysis. He is also the editor of First Read, NBC’s must-read political news guide.
Todd became NBC’s chief White House correspondent in December 2008, and since then, he has broadcast live reports from more than 25 countries across five continents. Todd helped launch The Daily Rundown, MSNBC’s Washington table-setter for the upcoming campaign and policy issues the government is dealing with on a daily basis, in January 2010.
Todd was the editor-in-chief of the National Journal’s The Hotline, Washington’s premier daily political briefing, before joining NBC News. Todd became one of Washington’s foremost experts on political campaigns at all levels during his 15 years at The Hotline or one of its affiliates. He was the editor-in-chief for six years. Todd was named one of Washingtonian’s Best Of journalists in December 2005.
