Bob Turk is an American broadcast meteorologist who worked at WJZ from 1973 till his retirement in September 2022. While working at WJZ, he served on the weekdays at 4, 5, 6, and 11 meteorologists.

Turk attended the then-named Towson State College where he earned a B.S. degree in geography. He received his Master’s degree in the same subject from the graduate school of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also taught elementary school in Baltimore City before attending graduate school.

During his long tenure at WJZ, he has received a Silver Circle Emmy award. It was Turk who helped WJZ select the Doppler radar weather system known as First Warning Weather and put the station further on the map as the first Baltimore television station to have such sophisticated weather forecasting technology.  

Turk has been an associate member of the American Meteorological Society since 1975. Prior to his broadcasting career, he served as an assistant planner for Howard County, Md., where he was in charge of site development plans. Additionally, he was active in the community and probably holds the record for “most number of community appearances made” over any other broadcast journalist in Baltimore. He also served on the boards of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and the American Lung Association and is active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
